How has athletics impacted your life?
Athletics has taught me to persevere when times get tough, and that success does not build character, failure builds character. High school athletics has also given me the ability to work outside of my social group and build relationships with individuals I otherwise would have never met.
How does being a student athlete affect your life?
Being a student athlete almost forces you to be social from the beginning and helps to establish life-long friendships and relationships. Being a college athlete also prepares one for the real world and life after college.
What are the good effects of being a student athlete?
It teaches you honesty, acceptance, sportsman spirit and teamwork. Being a student-athlete will make you feel like an allrounder, thus increasing your self-confidence. An athlete will also build physical strength and perseverance while practicing drills for the sports event.

Team sports participation promotes health and wellbeing, builds confidence, and can help maintain mental health. Studies also show a reduced risk for substance use in young people who play sports versus those who do not, including alcohol use, smoking, vaping, and illicit drug use.

To be a student-athlete requires hard work, sacrifice and unwavering dedication. Despite the challenges and sacrifices necessary, for almost every student-athlete I know, we wouldn’t have it any other way. As student-athletes, we’re challenged every day to excel in the classroom and on the field.
